Total newbie-ish question, but it's Friday, so we get more slack, right ?

I've tried in vain to find any information about what the COD Computerfest
actually *is*. Nothing about it on the COD.edu site, and googling finds a
lot about sending computers via COD delivery, but not much in between. I
found the Linuxfest dates, which I'm assuming coincide, but can someone
point me to information about the events as a whole ? Is it a swap-meet
kind of thing ? I am looking for some parts, so that would definitely
encourage me to show up.

And along that note, what exactly goes on at the Installfest?

I would like to find somewhere to go to learn about new and cool Linux ideas.

Is the Installfest only about installing, or is it for showing off too? :-)

Thanks,
- Jake

www.codshow.com is the official web site (well, it's one name for it).
There's not much detail because the merchandise is all from individual
exhibitors, not the folks who run the show as a whole.

Ten years ago, I found the show to be an excellent place to find good
prices; today it rarely seems to offer much of a price advantage on anything
I'm interested in buying. Still, it seems to be well attended still, so I'm
guessing that at least a lot of that change has been on my side. It's still
worth an occasional visit, and there's no reliable way to find out how
useful it is to you other than visiting. Be warned that if you're concerned
about compatability with anything other than Windows you need to be careful,
at least for product categories where that's an issue.

Yeah, it's sort of like a swap meet, though with more low-margin retailers
and less weird old used junk than what I think of as normal for a swap. Of
course it's been a good many years since I was at a swap meet...
